Western Yalanji People’s rights recognised by Federal Court

On 17 February 2006, a consent determination settled the Western Yalanji People's native title claim over a pastoral property in far north Queensland.

Justice Allsop of the Federal Court of Australia recognised the Western Yalanji People's non-exclusive native title rights and interests over two parcels of land totalling 200 sq km, located 120 km north-west of Cairns and 70 km west of Mt Carbine.
