    The Native Title Act allows two ways to deal with applications to mine, explore or prospect. These are through an ILUA or through the right to negotiate process. This brochure explains the difference between the two processes and what part the Tribunal plays in those processes.

    This book contains two papers by Adelaide-based anthropologist Dr Peter Sutton on the issues of kinship and social structures of Aboriginal society, and how traditional connection might be understood among Aboriginal groups whose cultures have been transformed by European cultures.

  • Native Title Stories: Rights, Recognition, Relationships

    This 37-minute documentary features people from communities throughout Australia talking about their native title experiences. They speak of the paths they took, the issues they had to confront and the results they achieved. For ease of navigation through the DVD, the program has been arranged in six segments. Alternatively, the film is available in video format.

  • 15 Years of Native Title DVD

    This 24-minute documentary documents the history of native title in Australia since the historic Mabo decision in 1992. Using archived footage and interviews with key participants to take the viewer on a journey from Mabo, to Yorta Yorta and Wik and Wik Way, finishing with Noonkanbah. The DVD shows how a greater understanding of native title has changed attitudes across Australia.

  • Steps to an ILUA

    These colour sheets clearly define the ILUA process. Each sheet covers a different step of the process and are available as a set or individually.

  • Terramungamine Reserve Agreement (video)

    In December 2002, a ceremony was held in Dubbo NSW to celebrate the signing of an agreement between the Tubbagah People, the NSW Government, the Dubbo City Council and the Dubbo Rural Lands Protection Board. Through the words of the people involved, this video looks at the issues, the mediation process, the outcome and the future.
