Below on this page is some general information about applying for employment opportunities at the Tribunal. Who can work for us?To be considered for employment in the Tribunal you must:
If you have received a redundancy benefit from an APS Agency or non-APS Commonwealth employer within the last 12 months you may apply for vacancies, but cannot be employed by the Tribunal, until a period of 12 months has passed. CitizenshipTo be eligible for employment with the Tribunal you must be an Australian citizen. In exceptional circumstances, this requirement may be waived, for example if your application for citizenship has not yet been processed, but you must hold the necessary visa and work permits appropriate to the employment. HealthIf you are successful in your application for employment within the Tribunal you will be required to complete a pre-employment medical statement to ensure your fitness to undertake the duties for which you have been selected. Security and character checkThe Tribunal might need to be satisfied that an applicant for employment is a fit and proper person to be an employee of the APS. The fit and proper person assessment involves checking police records for unspent criminal convictions and verifying employment history and employment references. If your work requires you to have access to classified material, you may need to undergo a formal security assessment. ProbationNew employees are required to complete a probationary period. Employees whose performance and/or behaviour do not reach the required standard during their probationary period will have their employment terminated. Conditions of employmentThe Tribunal's Collective Agreement 2006-2009 Identified positions in the TribunalMany of the positions in the Tribunal are 'identified'. Where a position is identified it will be noted as a specific requirement in the Role Profile.
