The Tribunal’s website has been upgraded to make further details about native title determination applications available through online searches. These changes are a response to feedback we received following the launch of the updated version of this website in July 2014.
Through the ‘
Search Applications and Determinations’ function on this website, the additional information will be available:
- The registration status for active claimant applications. For example, information will now be available on whether an applications is registered on the Register of Native Title Claims (RNTC) or is scheduled to have the registration test conditions applied
- Dates when claimant applications have been registered on the RNTC and whether applications are active or finalised
- The notification status for active applications
- The notification dates(s) for active applications.
It is now also possible to obtain extracts of native title determination applications which have not been fully determined, from the Schedule of Native Title Applications.
The Schedule of Native Title Applications contains information held by the Tribunal concerning all native title applications — claimant, non-claimant, compensation and applications for a revised determination of native title. This includes claimant applications that are not on the RNTC because they have:
- not yet been considered for registration
- been considered for registration but have not been accepted, or
- been amended, but the amended application has not yet been considered for registration.
This new search function is in addition to searches of the
National Native Title Register and the
Register of Native Title Claims, which became available through web searches in July 2014.
