Western Australia’s South West native title region is the focus of a new page on the Tribunal’s website.
The Tribunal’s WA state manager Lillian Maher said the new South West Region page aimed to inform people with an interest in native title in the area where the South West Aboriginal Land and Sea Council (SWALSC) represented native title claimants.

“This new page provides a one-stop information centre, with links, maps and other information for anyone who wants information related to SWALSC claims,” Ms Maher said.
“The signing of a Heads of Agreement by the WA Government and SWALSC, on 17 December 2009, marked the beginning of a new phase in negotiations to resolve native title in the region.
“The Tribunal’s South West Region page, which will be updated as negotiations progress, aims to bring together information from a number of different sources to inform those who may have an interest in this native title activity.”
The page is located under the Western Australia section of the Tribunal’s website and is the first with a regional focus. The Tribunal plans to introduce other region-specific pages. Talking Native Title will report on these when they are introduced.
