National Native Title Tribunal President Justice Robert French today announced the appointment of Cairns based lawyer, Geoffrey Clark, as a part-time member of the Tribunal for three years.

Mr Clark, who takes up his appointment on 1 June, is a partner in law firm Phillips Fox and has extensive experience in native title issues. He was formerly in private practice in Darwin and is a past Northern Territory Crown Solicitor.

Justice French said Mr Clark's expertise would assist in the mediation of native title claims, of which 670 were before the Tribunal.

Mr Clark joins 10 other part-time members, four full-time members and four Presidential members, including Justice French, in managing the mediation workload around Australia.
