A new information service offering comprehensive details of all native title applications is now available on the Internet at www.nntt.gov.au.
The National Native Title Tribunal today launched its upgraded, interactive homepage with extensive information on claims and native title processes, including Tribunal casenotes (plain English summaries) of legal judgments and rulings on native title and related issues.
The new world wide web site includes:
All Tribunal determinations on native title applications;
Casenotes on Federal and State Supreme Court judgements and rulings (listed under "publications");
Speeches by Tribunal Members and senior officers;
A database of draft native title agreements;
A timeline showing the status of all native title applications;
Summaries of all native title applications currently open for two-month public notification;
Tribunal policies, procedures and guidelines for native title applications and operations;
All application forms and guides;
Plain English explanations of native title concepts and processes;
Tribunal addresses and contact numbers;
Addresses and phone numbers for other organisations involved in native title issues; and
Tribunal media releases.
The new draft agreements database covers a broad variety of scenarios and is designed as a guide to help people engaged in native title negotiations to make their own agreements.
The Tribunal website will be updated daily as new information becomes available, and a "What's New" button will be added to keep the public informed of latest developments.
"Hot" links to other relevant native title sites will also be added as the web site develops.
For further information about the web site, email webmaster@nntt.gov.au. General native title queries should be addressed to registrar@nntt.gov.au, while questions about native title determinations should be addressed to librarian@nntt.gov.au.
