The file number prefixes now used by the Federal Court are as follows:
| Federal Court registry: |
File number prefix: |
| Australian Capital Territory |
ACD |
| New South Wales |
NSD |
| Northern Territory |
NTD |
| Queensland |
QUD |
| South Australia |
SAD |
| Tasmania |
TAD |
| Victoria |
VID |
| Western Australia |
WAD |
In all cases, the prefix is applied in conjunction with a matter number and a year e.g. QUD158/2004.
As the Tribunal's case management system does not currently cater for a four-digit year, the updated Federal Court file numbers only reflect the last two digits of the year.
For example, QUD158/2004 in the Federal Court's system will be reflected as QUD158/04 in the Tribunal's system.
The Tribunal will be updating its system later this year to cater for the four-digit year.
