The guidelines, issued by the Attorney-General on 1 January 2008, in accordance with Section 183 of the Native Title Act, provide for the provision of financial assistance to parties in relation to an inquiry, mediation or native title proceeding.
Registration test procedures
Native title claimant applications: a guide to understanding the requirements of the registration test
A guide for Indigenous Australians who want information on the registration test. The registration test is a set of conditions applied to an application for a native title claim. Further clarification about the factual basis claim groups need to provide in support of their claim for native title rights and interests at Schedule F of an application is contained in the Full Federal Court’s decision in Gudjala People # 2 v Native Title Registrar [2008] FCAFC 157. This guide should be read in conjunction with the court’s decision. A summary of the decision can be found in Issue 28 of Native Title Hot Spots.

Mediation Guidelines: guidelines for the behaviour of parties and their representatives in mediation in the National Native Title Tribunal, issued by the Attorney-General
As part of its response to the Claims Resolution Review in 2006, the Tribunal introduced the National Case Flow Management Scheme (the NCFMS) in April 2007. The scheme has a strong regional focus and introduces some new components to the administration of our mediation practice.
NCFMS list allocation criteria
The Tribunal produces a status report on the native title system which focuses primarily on the progress of native title claimant applications. The National report: native title is updated twice a year.
